Jacqueline D. BarnesJacqueline Barnes was born in New Westminster and has spent her entire thirty years living in the lower mainland. She has been active in team-sports since early childhood and at various times has played hockey, ringette, fastpitch, volleyball, soccer, basketball to name a few. |
She was bitten by the motorcycle bug as a teenager, and currently owns a Ducati 750. Over the last ten years she has spent her summers touring North America attending motorcycle events, some of the highlights being Sturgis, the Love Run and Las Vegas bike week.
Jacquie received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Simon Fraser University in 2002 and a Law degree from the University of British Columbia in 2005. She articled for McNeney & McNeney after finishing law school and was admitted to the British Columbia bar in 2006 at which time she became an Associate of the firm. She developed an interest in Human Rights law during her time at law school and successfully appeared before the B.C. Human Rights Tribunal for the first time as an articled student. In addition to her work in the Human Rights field she also has a keen interest in promoting motorcycling in B.C. and now works with the British Columbia Coalition of Motorcyclists (BCCOM) acting as counsel on a pro bono basis for riders who have received Motor Vehicle Act violation tickets for such things as allegedly wearing a non-approved helmet or making unnecessary noise. The majority of her practice is comprised of personal injury litigation and she has acted as co-counsel with Jim McNeney, Q.C. on range cases involving catastrophic injuries, accident liability disputes, insurance litigation, product liability, commercial host liability and Family Compensation Act claims. She is also the primary liaison for the firm’s Fort St. John office.
